Cuban ambassador Alexis Bandrich thanked the presence of activists from groups of solidarity with Cuba, the Association of Cuban Residents in Dominican Republic, and the Committee to Free the Five.
Perucho Figueredo, outstanding intellectual and patriot from Bayamo, Cuba, along with other independence leaders sang for a first time 143 years ago, on October 20, 1868, what would be the Cuban National Anthem, a call to fight for freedom.
"As those brave Dominicans who raised their machetes for the independence of Cuba, we are everlasting grateful to your solidarity for the release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters Gerardo, Rene, Antonio, Ramon and Fernando," Bandrich stated. (Prensa Latina)
