Cuban Rower Seeks Pan-American Podium
Guadalajara, Mexico, Oct 19. -Cuban rower Angel Fournier, open weight single scull, on Wednesday said he was able to compete for the gold medal on the final day of the rowing competition to be held in the city of Ciudad Guzman.In statements to Prensa Latina, Fournier said he was relaxed and motivated to perform a task that will provide him an excellent result.
According to Fournier, who is the only Cuban rower to qualify for the Olympic Games of London, the race is a regular competition; he is not anxious and will carry out his strategy, while taking care of his difficult opponents.
Fournier, from the eastern province of Guantanamo, is the main card of the Cuban rowing team for Wednesday, in which will also race boats of the lightweight men coxless four, women single scull with Yaima Velásquez, women coxless pair and eight rowing.
The Cuban rowing team, Pan-American champion in Rio de Janeiro-2007, this morning placed fourth in the competition with a gold, four silvers and one bronze. (Prensa Latina)
