In remarks to ONT and CTV channels, the Cuban diplomat said Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez have suffered inhuman treatments for 13 years in U.S. prisons.
Nieves Portuondo stated that keeping Rene Gonzalez for other three years in U.S. soil, after completing his sentence, is a legal atrocity that shows the hatred towards the defenders of the Cuban nation.
The diplomat referred to unfounded accusations, excessive convictions and continued violations of human rights committed against the Cuban Five and their relatives.
The ambassador also thanked the Belarusian media for the respect showed towards the Cuban Five issue, and the Committee to Free the Cuban Five in Belarus for the support given to this cause in the last few days.
The Cuban Five, as they are universally known, were condemned to unjust and long sentences in U.S. prisons, for informing their country on terrorist activities of anti-Cuban groups based in Florida, USA. (Prensa Latina)
