Santo Domingo, May 27. -The 6th Cuban Traveling Book Fair, an event that will put Dominicans in contact with a Caribbean culture similar to their own, opens Friday in San Pedro de Macoris, east of the capital.
San Pedro de Macoris Mayor Ramon Antonio Echavarria and Cuban Ambassador Juan Astiasaran were set to open the fair, dedicated this year to the release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in the United States.
The exhibition, sponsored by the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, was previously presented in Bani, San Cristobal province, where the fair was held from May 24 to May 26.
The event at the Duarte de San Pedro de Macoris Park will promote sports, musical activities and lectures until it closes on May 29 and moves on to Santiago de los Caballeros from May 30 to June 1.
The fair will also include literary talks, audiovisual exhibitions, sports workshops, artistic performances and other book-related activities. (Prensa Latina)
