Venezuela´s Ties with Cuban Technical University a Priority

Venezuela´s Ties with Cuban Technical University a PriorityHavana, Mar 28. -Links with Venezuela and other Latin American countries are today a priority for the "Jose Antonio Echeverria" Higher Polytechnic Institute (CUJAE) in Cuba.

Thanks to the intergovernmental agreement signed between Cuba and Venezuela, Cuba offers 12 master´s degrees in mechanical, civil engineering and geophysics, Jose Maria Ameneiros, CUJAE director of International Relations, told Prensa Latina.

The CUJAE also contributes to the renewal of undergraduate programs, provides collaboration in Mission Sucre program (university classes), and supports community social work, Ameneiros said.

Some of the programs applied in Caracas have been replicated in member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), such as Bolivia and Ecuador, although not as massively, he stated.

In 2010, about 100 teachers were taken to Venezuela and more than 200 to other countries, less than the previous year because of the global economic crisis, the engineer noted.

On international strategies, Ameneiros stated that Cuba is interested in strengthening exchange programs with the ALBA, and opening up options in Asia, where cooperation is more difficult and costly because of the distance. (Prensa Latina)
