Four Cuban Films in next Havana Festival

Four Cuban Films in next Havana Festival Havana, Nov 11. – Cuba will compete with four feature films in the 32nd Latinamerican Film Festival, from 2 to 12 December. Of the four films, three will be premieres: La Casa Vieja (The old house) by Lester Hamlet, Larga Distancia (Long Distance) by Esteban Insausti and Boleto al Paraíso (Ticket to Paradise) by Gerardo Chijona.

The renowned director Fernández will also participate in the festival with Martí, el ojo del canario (Marti, the eye of the canary), an approach to the teenage years of Marti, reflecting the spiritual heritage of the island. Depicting Martí in his formative years of personality and character, this is a deeply moving and revealing film.

The number of materials in the contest, produced by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) will increase soon to include documentaries and cartoons, which demonstrates the development of a film industry in the face of financial constraints.(Prensa Latina)
