Tropical Storm Isaac Move off, Could Become a Hurricane Havana, Aug 24. – Tropical Storm Isaac maintains maximum sustained winds of 75 mph, with higher gusts, but could gain intensity today or tomorrow, the Meteorological Institute of Cuba (INSMET) reported.

Isaac is moving at 24 kilometers per hour. At 06.00 local time, the center was estimated at 16.1 degrees north latitude and 70.2 degrees west longitude, 260 miles south of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and about 190 kilometers southeast of Port au Prince, Haiti.

Isaac will maintain a west-westnorthwestly course, and shift to a northeast direction overnight, with little change in speed, the INSMET states.

The system will approach or pass today on the Hispanola, and will move near or over the southeastern coast of Cuba tomorrow.

Cuba is keeping a close eye on the evolution and future trajectory of Isaac, which may represent a potential threat to the island.(Prensa Latina)
