Brazilians Reaffirm Solidarity with Cuban Revolution

Brasilia, Jun 10. -Some 70 representatives of Brazilian political parties and social, trade union and mass movements reaffirmed on Friday their solidarity with and support for the Cuban Revolution and demanded that the United States release five Cuban antiterrorist fighters from prison.

Assembled at the tourism center of the National University of Brasilia, participants at the statewide Cuba solidarity conference approved a final declaration condemning and demanding the lifting of the U.S. criminal economic blockade against the island.

They also expressed their the willingness to spare no effort in the struggle for the U.S. government to release the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters, who have been unjustly imprisoned in that northern country for almost 13 years.

The battle for the immediate freedom of the Cuban Five, Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez, is of a political nature and is a just cause, the conference declaration said.

The text highlights the firm willingness of the island's friends in Brasilia to raise high the banner of solidarity with Cuba and increase its relations with Brazil in all fields.

The eBrazilians also expressed the security that the changes approved during the 6th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party, after an extensive popular debate, would improve the island's economy and the welfare of the Cuban people. (Prensa Latina)
