First Direct Delegate to the Young Communist League Congress Elected

Camagüey, Jan 26. – In an atmosphere marked by enthusiasm and commitment, the first direct delegate to the 10th Congress of the Young Communist League (UJC) was chosen at the Ignacio Agromonte Military Industrial Enterprise in Camagüey.

In July, Lieutenant Osmel Tristán Rodríguez Geronés will represent some 500 young people who work in this machinery plant, which stands out for its economic outcome and the systematic work of the juvenile organization.

Rodríguez Geronés, who is currently the Deputy Director at the energy area of this company, told that the Congress will be a debate-friendly moment to ratify the role that the Cuban youth play for the domestic economy from their own workplaces.

Most of UJC members in this factory have been working lately in enlarging the repair workshops, the storerooms, the furniture factory, the metal cutting area and the workshops where sugar cane combine harvesters are repaired.

Rodríguez Geronés, 26, thanked his coworkers for their vote and said that he expects that issues such the bonds of the organization with the whole youth and strategies to encourage political awareness be discussed in the Congress.

Colonel Carlos Borrero, GM of the Ignacio Agromonte Military Industrial Enterprise; Bernardo Guía Perdomo, chief of the UJC Section at the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR) as well as other cadres attended the meeting where the first direct delegate to the UJC Congress was elected.
