French Activist Moved by Gerardo Hernández’s Message

Paris, Dec 29 .- French activist Jacqueline Roussie was deeply moved today when she received a message from Gerardo Hernández, one of the Cuban men who were in US jails for fighting terrorism.

Every month over the last six years, Roussie sent a letter to President Barack Obama to ask for the release of the five Cubans in US jails, who were arrested when they were monitoring activities by violent anti-Cuba groups based in southern Florida.

During that time, Gerardo sent me 170 letters from which I learnt a lot. It was a great experience that I will never forget, she told Prensa Latina. That is why I felt incredibly glad to receive his first letter after the release.

In the message, Gerardo says he has thought about her and every person who put a lot of effort in his cause, making it possible to live this dream come true.

On behalf of the Five (as they are known worldwide), I congratulate all of our friends in France and the rest of the world who gave us their unwavering support during this time in prison, he added.

"We are very grateful and we know this happiness we live today along with our people is also because of you all", he said. (Prensa Latina)
