Cuba Marks International Day of the Families

Havana, Cuba, May 16.- Cubans mark International Day of the Families on May 15, which was set up in 1994 by the United Nations.

Stressing that the home is the main cell of society and its values, Cubans mark the date with a large array of activities organized by the Cuban Women’s Federation throughout the island. Community projects on the occasion offer an scenario to share experiences and evaluate results of various strategies aimed at contributing to the family.

This will be an anniversary for joy and reflection, because rescuing social values from the very cradle, which is our home, is an endless task, said Women’s Federation president Teresa Amarelle.(ACN)
