Pentagon on Initial Preparations for Possible Attack to Syria

Washington, Aug 24. -Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin Dempsey, will give details in a meeting in the White House on the possible options for attacking Syria, using cruiser missiles.

According to a new report quoted by CBS network, the Pentagon is making the initial preparations for a possible attack to Syria when President Barack Obama gives the order.

The action would have as pretext information on the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian Army, which has been repeatedly denied by the Syrian government in the past few days.

Up to now Obama has not made a final decision and he opposes intervention, though at the same time he wants President Bashar Al Assad out of his post, but US government officials are holding internal meetings and contacts with allied countries about an eventual military action, as revealed by the New York Times yesterday.(Prensa Latina)
