Nuclear Issue Is a Political Excuse against Iran, Ahmadinejad Says

Quito, Jan 13. -Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will conclude on Friday his visit to Ecuador, where he stated that the nuclear issue is just a political excuse against Iran, because it is known his country does not seek to produce atomic bombs."Iran is not so imprudent to spend money and not be able to spend it. We do not want to produce atomic bombs against humankind," the statesman said after a long working day during his second official visit to Ecuador, the last stop in his Latin American tour.

Ahmadinejad noted that his country does not need bombs because its bombs are "its culture, logics, affection and love for our fellow people."

The Iranian president spoke about how the Iranian government was overthrown with a coup d'etat, after which a dictatorial regime was imposed for over 25 years, supported by the United States, and no one cared about the Iranian people's human rights, until his people was free.

Ahmadinejad arrived in Ecuador from Cuba. He was accompanied by a top-level delegation. His tour also took him to Venezuela and Nicaragua to strengthen ties with the countries of the region.

In a parallel program, Ahmadinejad's wife visited in Quito the Chapel of Man, a cultural center built for humankind by Ecuadorian painter Oswaldo Guayasamin, whose works are exhibited there. (Prensa Latina)
