US Baseball Team to Play Three Games in Cuba

Havana, Jan 4. -The U.S. Lakers baseball team, of Grand Valley University, will play three games this week in the capital, the Cubadebate website said on Wednesday.The 3-game friendly matches, against a Cuban university team, is scheduled for Thursday and Saturday, at the Santiago "Changa" Mederos stadium of Havana's Sports City, and on Friday at the Latin American Stadium.According to U.S. coach Steve Lyon, who already visited the island in November 2010, his players will have a great experience in Havana.

The Lakers last year had an excellent season with 52 wins and just five defeats and this result allowed them to play for a qualifying slot to the College World Series.

In that season, the U.S. university team, which has a good pitching staff and strong hitters, set a record of 32 consecutive wins. (Prensa Latina)
