Murer and Cielo, Brazil’s Best Athletes in 2011
Brasilia, Dec 20. -Fabiana Murer (Polevault) and Cesar Cielo (Swimming) were elected Brazil's Athletes of the Year 2011, while Rosicleia Campos (judo) and Ruben Magnano (basketball) were declared best coaches in a ceremony held Monday night in Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theater.
G1, Globo Website newscast, says Murer wins her second consecutive title for her 4.85-meter-jump in Daegu, South Korea, and for being the first Brazilian Polevault World Champion as well as winning Silver in the Guadalajara Pan-American Games in Mexico.
"I am happy with this second trophy; it was really a good year… I have a lot of work ahead; I already started training to compete with all my might for an Olympic medal in London," said Murer.
Cielo's merits came in winning the 50-meter-free-style and 50-meter-butterfly in Xangai, China, and the 50 and 100 meter-free-style and 4×100 -free-style rely and 4×100 rely medley.
