Argentina Pays Tributes to Late Former President

Buenos Aires, Oct 28. -Argentina paid tribute on Thursday to former president Nestor Kirchner, in occasion of the first anniversary of his death, caused by a sudden heart attack.Miners of Rio Turbio and members of social union organizations took part in a wake in front of the Congress of the Argentine Nation; and later marched downtown to join the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo.

Marchers were carrying a statue of the late president, who had been chosen as the first secretary general of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR).

Vice president-elect and current Minister of Economy, Amado Boudou; and the Minister of Industry Debora Giorgi also joined the ceremony at the Plaza de Mayo.

Presidency Legal and Technical secretary Carlos Zanini stated Nestor, as president, achieved things that no other president had ever achieved before, as restructuring the foreign debt.

Argentinean late former president Nestor Kirchner died on October 27, 2010 in the Patagonia city of El Calafate, as consequence of a heart attack.
