FAO Works with Cuba in 29 Projects

Havana, Oct 18. -The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) currently works with Cuba in 29 projects promoting irrigation, forest development, and fishing, among others, this agency's representative, Marcio Porto, stated.The Cuban government has implemented those programs in all provinces, supported by FAO, the diplomat also told Prensa Latina.

Porto chairs a seminar, that began on Monday, on urban and suburban agriculture, with the participation of other UN officials, as well as Cuban and regional experts.

This meeting is a very important so that an international event in the first four months of 2012 can be held achieving a greater transfer of the Cuban technology in that field to other regional countries, Porto said.

Porto described as successful the World Food Day campaign of this year, and in the case of Cuba, it included a group of actions, among them a popular race. (Prensa Latina)
