Rainfall in Nicaragua´s Pacific Coast Floods Communities

Managua, Oct 12. -The Nicaraguan Pacific coast region is being pounded by heavy rains which caused flooding in different localities. An expert of the National Institute of Territorial Studies, Carlos Zapato, said that the center of the rains is associated with south-southwest winds and is carrying lots of humidity from the Pacific Ocean to Nicaragua.

A tropical depression, which is causing heavy rains all over Central America from Guatemala to Costa Rica, will cause continued rainfall in the center and south of Nicaragua, and it is expected that those conditions will prevail at least till this Saturday due to the slow movement of the depression.

Live reports from Radio Ya station correspondents in different municipalities of the country revealed flooded communities, destroyed houses, neighbourhoods with no communication, evacuation and rescue of people, and damages caused by the flooding of rivers. (Prensa Latina)
