Prensa Latina Begins Circulation of English-Language Newspaper
Havana, Sep 26. – Prensa Latina on Monday began circulating The Havana Reporter, a periodical designed for English-speaking readers. "Our purpose is to make it easier for visitors and people in other parts of the world to get closer to Cuba and to stay up to date on life on the island, and also to provide them with our view on current events in Latin America and the rest of the world<' says a note from the editor published in the first edition.
The 16-page full-color weekly includes an ample entertainment guide with listings for theaters, nightclubs and other places of interest in Havana and other cities.
The Havana Reporter, the newest of Prensa Latina's publications, will be on sale at tourist centers, airports, travel agencies, airlines and sales points targeting international tourists.
The first edition includes interviews with the president of the Cuban parliament, Ricardo Alarcon; the director of the North America department of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Josefina Vidal; the oldest living ex-Major League baseball player, Conrado Marrero; a feature article on the Latin American School of Medicine, and information on the recent measures in Cuba to update its eocnomic model, as well as other topics about society, culture, science and technology, economy and sports.(Prensa Latina)
