Musicians of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra in Cuban Concert

Havana, Sep 9. -A group of musicians from the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra (JCLO) will give a concert here on Friday with students of the workshop they impart during their visit to the island. The performance will take place in the Covarrubias room of the Teatro Nacional in Havana's Revolution Square, according to recent adjustments to the schedule on the date and place stated by the Institute of Music to Prensa Latina.

The group taking part of the current project, Metales en La Habana, arrived earlier this week to the island to fulfill a commitment made in October 2010 to donate instruments to Cuban music schools, whose potential talents impressed them deeply.

The group, which is led by bassist Carlos Gabriel Enriquez, member of the Jclo, will help to restore instruments and share its knowledge in that specialty.

Speaking to reporters, Enriquez said it is a common purpose to continue to bring musicians to the island to share with students and offer them any support. (Prensa Latina)
