Dominican Republic in Solidarity with The Cuban Five Santo Domingo, Sep 6. – The Dominican Campaign of Solidarity with Cuba began a crusade to free the five Cubans imprisoned in the U.S., which will extend to 27 provinces during the entire month of September.

The coordinator of the Campaign, Roberto Payano, and Ivan Rodriguez, leader of the organization of solidarity with Cuba, said that the campaign involves conferences, masses, meetings, radio and television shows, concerts, poetry readings, poster exhibitions, as well as films and documentaries on the Five.

Payano summoned all Dominicans in solidarity with Cuba to appear before the U.S. embassy next Monday, September 12, to address a letter to President Barack Obama asking for the release of the five by means of a presidential amnesty.

On the other hand, it was announced that the International Free The Five Committee highlighted the significance of September 4, when the attacks against some hotels in Havana occurred 14 years ago, resulting in the death of young Italian tourist Fabio di Celmo.(Prensa Latina)
