Venezuela Pays Homage to Fidel CastroCaracas, Aug 12 .- Venezuelan TV channel Venezolana de Television highlighted the life and pro-Latin American ideas of Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro Friday, because of Castro's 85th birthday on August 13.

Local cultural magazine Contrastes started its Friday program with a report on Fidel Castro's life and work and his devotion to the struggle for the Cuba's independence.

The report regarded Fidel Castro as a symbol of world leadership and a humanistic man, a socialist and a champion of pro-integration movements in Latin America.

Contrastes also highlighted Cuba's social achievements under the leadership of Fidel Castro, despite the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the US government after the Cuban revolutionary triumph on January 1st, 1959.

The Venezuelan Socialist Party Youth League will carry out several activities countrywide on Saturday to celebrate Fidel Castroâ�Ös birthday.

Olbys Monsalve, a leader of the Venezuelan Socialist Party Youth League, said that, together with the Cuban-Venezuelan Solidarity Committee, they will rescue a sports court in the 23 de Enero neighborhood, in northwestern Caracas, and many murals will be painted and countrywide.

"Fidel Castro is a great example for the young people, and a proof that we should dream about a better world, through good work and perseverance," Monsalve concluded.
