Cuba Beats Curacao in Dutch Baseball Tournament

Cuba Beats Curacao in Dutch Baseball Tournament Amsterdam, Jun 30. -Cuba beat the team of Curacao 1-0 at the Neptunus Family stadium in Rotterdam, Holland, in the baseball tournament being held in this Dutch city Wednesday, and kept its second place.

Right-hander Dalier Hinojosa pitched well for seven innings, with just one hit, and got his first victory at the tournament, this being the third won by the Cuban team.

The batting performance of the Cuban team was limited, scoring just one single run in the 7th inning, thanks to a sacrifice fly by Yordanis Samon (first baseman) bringing outfielder Yasiel Puig to the home plate.

In the 8th, Cuban manager Roger Machado decided to bring right-hander Yadier Pedroso to the pitcher's box to preserve the edge, despite the fact that he had limited rest, and things worked out fine.

Pedroso pitched two innings, got a point for a saved match, and became the pitching leader at the tournament, with 10.2 innings without any earned run.

This result let the Cuban team take revenge for the defeat at the first match between these two teams at the first round of the tournament.

Now Cuba is in 2nd place with three victories and two defeats, tied with the Dutch team, and will meet Chinese Taipei (leader with 5-0) on Thursday.
