Psicohabana 2011 Congress in CubaHavana, Mar 9. -The 5th International Conference "PSICOHABANA 2011" begins on Wednesday in this capital in the presence of renowned experts and researchers in mental health and related specialties.

The opening will include a master lecture entitled "Psychosocial Rehabilitation in the Era of Global Economy" by Michel Madianos, president of the Rehabilitation Section of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA).

Also included is a lecture by Professor Miguel Valdes Mier, president of the Cuban Society of that specialty, about a current issue, "Clinical Method in Psychiatric Genetics."

A round table on health and sexual rights, including a statement by SOCUMES (Cuban Multidisciplinary Society for the Study of Sexuality), on the depathologization of transsexuality, and the importance of sexual orientation in sex therapy, are also part of the event's agenda.

Delegates from Spain, United Kingdom, France, Chile, Norway, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, Venezuela and Puerto Rico, among other nations, are attending the congress, to be run until March 11 at the Havana's Conference Center.

In parallel with this Congress, the Regional Meeting of the Classification Section of the WPA, and a scientific-trade exhibition with the participation of medicine producing/trading firms and related services, will also be held. (Prensa Latina)
