Cuba Presents Possible Computer Science Exports

Cuba Presents Possible Computer Science ExportsHavana, Jan 21. -Cuba will present 25 computer products and applications for possible export at an international forum on new information and communication technology it will host in February.

"We chose projects that generate exports or substitute imports," said Maria Elena Deulofeu, general director of the Coordinating Center for the Training and Development of Human Capital.

Deulofeu is heading the Cuban presentation at the 14th Informatics Fair and Convention, Feb. 7-11.

The products chosen also contribute to the country's economic development and have a greater social impact, especially in health and education, she said.

They are mostly computer applications and only three are for infrastructure, but they are being applied in the country, and some of them have been exported, the expert said.

One of these products is Magister Vox, useful for treatment speech disorders in children, Deulofeu said.

The convergence of science and technology, security, platforms and open code applications, as well as ethics and rights in new information technologies and telecommunications are part of the many issues to be discussed at the meeting. (Prensa Latina)
