Belarus Students Debate U.S. Blockade of Cuba

Belarus Students Debate U.S. Blockade of CubaMinsk, Nov 20. -Students from the Institute of International Relations in Belarus debated in depth Friday on the economic, commercial, and financial blockade applied by successive U.S. governments against Cuba for almost 50 years.

Cuban Ambassador Alfredo Nieves Portuondo said in a special lecture at the university that the U.S. government has maintained and intensified its genocide blockade of the island.

The White House continues with its policy despite receiving, for 19 consecutive years, the vigorous condemnation of the international community in the United Nations, Nieves Portuondo stated.

The diplomat noted the results of the October 26 vote in the UN General Assembly, the most representative body of the international community, approving a resolution demanding the end of that illegal and immoral policy.

This year, 187 countries voted in favor of Cuba, 2 against, and three abstained, he said.

During two-hour meeting, almost 50 students talked about Cuban diplomatic actions about this issue, and the current situation of the island. (Prensa Latina)
