Raul Castro Calls for Discussion of Draft Party Program

Raul Castro Calls for Discussion of Draft Party ProgramHavana, Nov 16. -Cuban President Raul Castro called on leaders and experts to consider the particularities of each province in discussing the Economic and Social Policy Guidelines of the Draft Program of the Communist Party of Cuba.

The document, announced a week ago, will be analyzed by party members and the people in general from December 1 to February 28, prior to the 6th Party Congress, which is to be held in mid-April 2011.

Diversity is fundamental; life is enriched when there are discrepancies, and that has also been a saying within the Party, Raul Castro stated during the first National Seminar on the draft program.

Everything is decided with the explanations that may emerge. This is not a question of convincing people about what is written in the Draft Program, but explaining the issues and thoroughly collecting all opinions, because it is the people who will decide in this process, the president stated.

We have to be ready to verify that what is established is being fulfilled, so it is important that Party institutions restructure their curricula, the Cuban president said, according to a report in Granma newspaper.

The National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba must play a more active role, as should lawyers, who should advise better, the president also stated.

Raul Castro reaffirmed that the ideas of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, are present in each one of the lines proposed. (Prensa Latina)
