Caracas, Aug 27. -The National Electoral Council of Venezuela (CNE) detailed its efforts to ensure the participation of citizens in the parliamentary elections next September 26.
According to the leader of the CNE, Socorro Hernández, there will be walks throughout the country to encourage Venezuelans to vote.
"We want to make a call for participation and for people to have detailed knowledge of the electoral process," she said on Thursday during a press conference.
In addition to the crusade against abstention, the election authority will familiarize voters with the machines to be used in the election.
"We expect to deploy for several days some 1,500 fixed and mobile machines, in order to identify voters", she said.
According to Hernandez, the CNE will inform the people about the particularities of the elections, which will select 165 National Assembly deputies and 12 members of the Latin American Parliament.
One of the initiatives will be giving to those registered on the electoral roll, the electoral compass, a document detailing the process and circuit-list of candidates, she said. (Prensa Latina)
