Streaming music crusade brings Cuban rhythms into homes

Havana, Apr. 1st.- Hundreds of accounts in social networks, digital platforms, television and radio are currently connected to bring Cuban music from the homes of its creators to the homes of its public on the island.

The online concerts offered by performers from the Cuba in recent days to support the government’s measures against the spread of Covid-19, stand out in the programming of national television channels, radio stations and virtual stages.

With the labels #EstamosContigo and #MusicosPorCuba the joint broadcasting of recitals welcomes the performances of Eduardo Sosa, Marta Campos, Diego Gutierrez, Omara Portuondo and Ethiel Failde.

The performances will be available on the frequencies of Canal Clave, Radio Progreso, the Facebook profiles of the Cuban Music Institutes (ICM) and Radio and Television (ICRT), as well as the digital platforms of the Cuban Ministry of Culture (MINCULT).

These spaces will also serve as a stage for the hundreds of messages transmitted by the community of creators on the island to promote measures of isolation and ratify the power of culture as a weapon of healing, such as the Septeto Santiaguero, Waldo Mendoza, La Trovita, among others.

The initiative has the support of La Rueda Producciones, Lia Videos, i4 Films, among other independent projects that joined the musical crusade initiated by David Blanco through Facebook Live, such as the youtube channel ‘Litle Cube Time.’

In view of the spread of the Covid-19, cultural centers, museums, theaters, cinemas, galleries, among other spaces have paused their offerings in line with preventive measures related to avoiding crowds and reducing physical contact. (Prensa Latina)
