Library form Santa Cruz del Sur give special attention to handicaps

Santa Cruz del Sur, Mar 25. –The special area aimed to help the handicapped in the Mártires de Pino Tres Municipality Library, offers several resources used by the members of the National Association for the Blinds (ANCI) for their integral preparation, and everyday life.

Elements to learn Braille: a typing machine, the interlinear space, a burin and the abacus, are just an example of it. There are also text books for adults, walking sticks, and infant literature that can be read by the blind people.

The ANCI has 98 members, where 67 out of them have low vision; these people participate in literary workshops, passive games and sports. They also make collective birthday parties, mark historic dates, and most of them want to increase their cultural heritage.

This physical handicap is not a misfortune in Cuba. They and the rest of the society have the same rights; they are seen, supported and loved, so they can keep on watching in great dimension, from their insides, the human sensitivity of this Revolution.
