Cuba is Ready for Nomination of Candidates to Local GovernmentsHavana, Cuba, Aug 31.- The president of the Cuban National Electoral Commission (CNE) Alina Balseiro said that the country is ready for the nomination of candidates to delegates of the People’s Power local governments.

Speaking during the primetime TV show “The Round Table” Balseiro announced that during this first electoral stage, neighbors will hold 59 thousand nomination assemblies, in similar number of areas and in all 14 537 constituencies.

Meanwhile, the president of the Cuban Parliament Ricardo Alarcon said that the upcoming elections will take place amidst the ongoing update of the socialist economic model, which suggests a more selective process and a more efficient work by those who get elected.

Alarcon stressed the importance that Cuban citizens contribute to the improvement of the island’s democratic system which, despite its limitations, is the one Cubans created and must continue to defend. (Radio Cadena Agramonte)
