OWS Continues Despite Police Evictions

Havana, Nov 16. -Although police have violently evicted demonstrators, we have to keep occupying, said Manolo de los Santos, a young activist in the Occupy Wall Street movement in New York city. After the police´s attempt to remove protesters on Tuesday early morning from Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan, they returnedto the park. "We don´t know if we are allowed to stay. We are more than 500 people", Santos told Prensa Latina.

According to Manolo de los Santos, a Dominican immigrant and resident of southern Bronx, the protesters intend to remain camping in Zuccotti Park and they will have more actions all over the city on Thursday and intend to occupy more spaces.

He explained that police arrived to Zuccotti Park on Tuesday with billy clubs and started hitting protesters. There were over 100 officers backed up by helicopters and other vehicles. They hurt a Latin member of the New York City Council and arrested over 70 demonstrators.

New York authorities said they cleared out the Park fro sanitary reasons, but this is a lie, said Santos. "The situation in Wall Street has taken extraordinary turns, but there is no stopping it now", said Santos. (Prensa Latina)
