Havana, Dec 31. -The historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, sent a message wishing a prompt recovery to former pitcher Norge Luis Vera, who, according to medical reports, is recovering after suffering severe injures in a car crash last week.Vice President Esteban Lazo visited Vera at the Saturnino Lora Hospital, in Santiago de Cuba, where he handed him a postcard signed by Fidel Castro, Cuba's nightly TV news program reported on Friday.
Lazo read the message to Vera, which said "I wish you a speedy recovery and a happy 2012".
Lazo showed great interest in the former pitcher´s health, and thanked the medical staff who is assisting him.
Although Vera is still seriously ill, he is recovering rapidly, can recognize people and talk. He suffered severe injures, including a head trauma. (Prensa Latina)
