Cuban Volleyball Team Seeks First Youth World Title Buenos Aires, Aug 19. – Cuba''s volleyball team will face France on Friday at the beginning of the 2011 FIVB Boy's Youth World Championship. Cuba has never won any medals in this tournament for under-19 players, but is considered one of the favorites to win this year's event.

The Cuban team, coached by Rodolfo Sanchez, will make its debut in the city of Almirante Brown, 25 kilometers south of the capital, in one of the last games of the first day of competition for Group C, which also features Brazil vs. South Korea.

The Cuban team includes several players who were champions last year in the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, and the team recently played undefeated in a quadrangular tourney in Chivilcoy.

The first day's events also include, in competition Group A: United States vs. Egypt, and Argentina vs. Bulgaria; in Group B: Russia-Greece, and Tunisia-China; in Group D: Serbia-Puerto Rico, and Iran-Spain.

The 12th Boy's Youth World Championship runs until Aug 28.(Prensa Latina)
