Tripoli, Jun 15. -NATO fighter planes intensified their attacks on Wednesday on civilian and military targets in the capital and surrounding areas, where fighting continued between rebels and troops loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
After Tuesdayâ�Ös deadly attacks, NATO warplanes and choppers bombed Firnag, one of the most populated areas of the capital, and Ain Zara, causing an undetermined number of victims, according to state television reports.
Opposition and NATO comand sources affirmed that the air raids forced pro-Gaddafi troops to withdraw from the oil city of Brega, but the government said the strategic city was still under its control.
Reporters in Zintan, a town bordering Tunisia, described a tense environment due to the fact that the Libyan army launched rockets against the neighboring country and the Tunisian air force activated its border patrol. (Prensa Latina)
