Tourism to Cuba Grows 14 PercentHavana, Mar 24. -At least 588,394 foreign visitors arrived in Cuba in February, 75,234 more than during the same period last year, an increase of 14.7 percent, according to official sources.

The National Statistics Office (ONE) indicated that in February 2007, the island was visited by 439,134 people, 508,278 visitors arrived in that month of 2008 and 531,100 in the same period of 2009. The upward trend remained, exceeding 588,000 foreign visitors in February this year.

ONE announced the launch of the journal Turismo on Friday, dealing with the arrival of international visitors and the latest figures on the matter, including major tourist-sending countries by months, years and totals.

Tourism is one of the most dynamic elements of the service sector in Cuba, contributing nearly 70 percent of the country's income. (Prensa Latina)
