Cuban Residents in Russia Demands End of US Blockade

Cuban Residents in Russia Demands End of US BlockadeMoscow, Dec 20. -The Association of Cuban residents in Russia demanded on Sunday the unconditional lifting of the U.S. blockade on the Caribbean island and the release of five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in the USA.

A statement from the association, approved during a political-cultural meeting, spoke out for eliminating the so-called European Common Position.

The organization calls for the release of Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Gerardo Hernandez, as they are universally known, and asks US President Barack Obama to use his powers and free the Five immediately.

The document also supports the discussion of the Economic and Social Policy Guideline of the Draft Party Program of the island, as well as the work to reach the Congress with a broad popular consensus on the important decisions.

The plan calls for creating the associations website, which will be that of the Cuban residents in Russia, and advocate for multiplying initiatives to spread the Cuban national culture, and strengthen links with the movement of solidarity with the island.

Among other activities, 2011 program includes the participation in the Sixth Meeting of Cuban Residents in Europe. (Prensa Latina)
