Canoeist Wins Gold for Cuba in Singapore 2010

Singapore, Aug 23. -Canoeist Osvaldo Sacerio got the third gold medal for Cuba in Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games after winning the Menâs C-1 canoe sprint that took place at Marina Bay.

Sacerio finished second in round 4, but in the finals he finished three seconds ahead of Ukrainian Anatoli Melnyk, silver medalist.

Sacerio made a time of 1:48:37 minutes in the final round, while Mexican Pedro Castañeda got bronze, beating Romanian Andrei Liferi.

Sacerioâ�Ös gold medal joins the other two won by Cubans yesterday: Leidy Laura Moya in modern penthlaton and Ernesto Vila in gymnastics. They lead Cuba's delegation, which also has two silvers and two bronzes. (Prensa Latina)
