Cuban workers denounce media campaign by U.S. and the European UnionCamagüey, May 1 – About 400,000 people are marching today in 13 townships of this Cuban province, chanting slogans and encouraging unity among the Cubans against media campaigns mounted by the U.S. and the European Union.

The marches are being headed by women of different trade unions and mass organizations; and a range of initiatives are giving a special identity to this party across the province.

Today’s marches are a good reason to celebrate International Workers Day and support the economic changes underway in the island to improve its Socialist model.

In squares and avenues, workers, farmers, women and men, youth and veterans are denouncing the smear campaign orchestrated against the island.

Some 200,000 people packed in 20 blocks formed by workers of 18 trade unions, plus one block of foreigners in solidarity with Cuba are attending Ignacio Agramonte Revolution Square this morning.
