PL and VNA, exceptional witnesses of Vietnam-Cuba friendship (+Photos)

The historic context and content of the 50 photos on display, which cover other visits and meetings of leaders of the communist parties of Cuba (PCC) and Vietnam (CPV) and of both States, was presented to the visitors by VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang and Prensa Latina President Luis Enrique González.

Present at the inauguration of the exhibition were Cuban Parliament President Esteban Lazo and the permanent member of the Secretariat and head of the CPV Organization Commission Truong Thi Mai, as well as National Assembly Permanent Vice President Trang Tanh Manh, all members of the Political Bureau of both parties.

Lazo, Thi Mai and Tanh Manh received copies of the book “Fidel Castro, Our Blood for Vietnam,” which was published by Prensa Latina in collaboration with VNA and includes, in images and texts, highlights of the first visit of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution to Vietnam.

The inauguration of the exhibition and the presentation of the documentary book took place shortly before the main commemorative event of that event, which – as Thi Mai stressed in his speech – was a great source of encouragement for the combatants of the South and demonstrated Fidel’s absolute confidence in victory.

Cubans have not only always been willing to give their blood for Vietnam, but also to sweat alongside its people in the tasks of rebuilding the country. For that reason, solidarity with that sister nation is a latent order in the heart of every Vietnamese, the party leader emphasized.

Speaking at the ceremony, the president of the Council of State of Cuba, Esteban Lazo, expressed his deep gratitude “for the successful celebration of this memorable day,” and assured that it is moving to visit the same places that the Commander-in-chief visited, 50 years later.

On Tuesday morning, Lazo and the high-level delegation accompanying him visited the Hieng Luong flag tower and the museum there. They crossed the homonymous bridge over the Ben Hai River, which divided the North from the South of the country between 1954 and 1975, and the headquarters of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of South Vietnam, in Cam Lo.

They also visited the Fidel Castro Park, in the city of Dong Ha, where they laid a wreath and planted trees to commemorate that historic visit to the liberated territories of the South. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
