Cuban Choral Group Wins Two Prizes in Competition in Germany

Havana, Jun 14 .-The Cuban Vocal Group Leo celebrates this Thursday the two prizes obtained in the XVI International Competition of Chamber Choirs Marktoberdof 2019, which took place in the city of Allgäu.

 

In the contest, one of the most recognized at an international level, the ensemble directed by Corina Campos won the Special Jury Prize for the particular performance and vocal quality of the presentation and the Popularity Prize.

During the presentations, the group presented pieces by Cuban and foreign authors, among them masters Leo Brouwer, Roberto Valera and Wilma Alba Cal, all performed in German.

The first places fell into the hands of the Philippine choirs, which displayed a characteristic sonority and showed works of high level, also a choir from Ireland, it was noted.

The XVI Marktoberdof International Chamber Choir Competition, which took place from June 7 to 12, brought together groups from the United States, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Sweden, the Philippines and Turkey. (Prensa Latina)
