Federation of Cuban Women Grows in Number in CamagüeyCamagüey, Aug 23. – As part of the activities marking the 53rd anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), a simple ceremony was held at the centrally situated Ignacio Agramonte Park in Camagüey to inaugurate 30 new FMC members who enter the organization after reaching age 14.

With the attendance of members of the provincial secretariat of the Federation of Cuban Women as well as of several veterans who took part in historical battles inside and outside the island country, the girls were given the card which identifies them as member of the organization.

FMC official in Camagüey Iris Jiménez read a message sent by the National Secretariat in which they congratulated not only those who just enter the FMC but the senior members as well. Besides, they were urged to continue working to truly achieve gender equality and equity in Cuba.

In addition, she told that the membership grows in Camagüey province, where more than 90 percent of women are FMC members. Nearly 4,000 girls join the organization each year in the province. (Mariela Peña Seguí/ Radio Cadena Agramonte)
