Solidarity with Cuba in Dominican Republic Ratified Puerto Plata, Dominican, Aug 19 .- The Committee of Solidarity and Friends with Cuba in this northern province of the Dominican Republic ratified the commitment of strengthening friendship links between the two countries.

The new president of the group, Dario Zarzuela, said that it is necessary to strengthen those traditional ties which have always joined the two countries.

Following the swearing-in ceremony of the new directive board of the committee by Cuban ambassador, Alexis Bandrich, at the Independence Square in the provincial capital, Zarzuela referred to the justice, liberty, and independence ideas in Latin America.

Zarzulea suggested mobilization and international solidarity as the main weapons to fight against the threats of peoples' obscurantism.

"We are sure that the U.S. imperialism can blockade Cuba, but it will never blockade the Caribbean country's principles and dignity, said the group's previous president Pablo Castillo.

Bandrich mentioned the different Cuba's current challenges, including strengthening the socialist model and continuing facing the U.S. blockade, and urged Dominican friends to keep their support. (Prensa Latina)
