UN secretary Required to End U.S. Blockade against Cuba
Moscow, Aug 6.- The Russian movement Venceremos sent a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to demand an end to the blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States for more than half a century, Prensa Latina reported today.
Venceremos declared itself to be in favor of the end of the U.S. blockade against Cuba, a claim supported by 186 nations in the world, which should also be able to impose restrictions on Washington so it takes into account the will of the world community, Venceremos says.
The Russian social movement also requires the return to Cuba of the territory illegally occupied by the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay in the east of the country.
The letter addressed to UN Secretary General says that taking into account Articles 2,3,4,5,9,19 and 28 of the General Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1948, Venceremos rejects any U.S. interference in domestic affairs of other nations.
In addition, it stresses, Venceremos condemns Washington's support for provocateurs, saboteurs and terrorists, as well as interventions and direct occupation of nations that kill civilians, scientists, and government leaders, and also demand punishment of perpetrators. (Radio Cadena Agramonte).
