Colombia, Cuba Strengthen Ties
Havana, Mar 7. – Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos on Wednesday expressed interest in strengthening ties with Cuba, during the first visit here in a decade by a statesman from that South American country.
Speaking on his purposes, Santos announced the dialogue he will hold with his Cuban counterpart, Raul Castro, to improve ties between Bogota and Havana, as well as talk on the Summit of the Americas, to be run in Cartagena in April.
Relations are good but they are always sensitive to improve, Santos told reporters shortly after being welcomed by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez at the Jose Marti International Airport.
It will be a short but profitable visit, stated the Colombian head of State, who visited Cuba twice before taking office in August 2010.
During his stay here, Santos will also review the bilateral agenda with Caracas, during a meeting with President Hugo Chavez, who is in Cuba recovering from surgery.(Prensa Latina)
