Venezuela: Successful Anti-Drug Fight in 2011

Caracas, Dec 28. -Venezuelan authorities seized 4.47 million doses of different drugs in 2011, as a result of the National Anti-Drug Plan carried out by the government, an official source said.Minister of Interior and Justice Tareck El Aissami made the announcement when reviewing the work done in 2011 by the National Anti-Drug Office.Of that total, 2.44 million doses were cocaine, 1.76 million were marihuana, 30,737 were heroine, 562,830 were crack, and the rest were other drugs.

El Aissami also added that during the anti-drug operations, 95 motorcycles, 372 vehicles, 14 airplanes, 14 boats, 17 rural buildings and 115 urban buildings, all of them used to preparing and distribute the drug, were seized.

Twenty-one drug traffickers wanted by the police in other nations were captured during 2011.

Eight military anti-drug operations were carried this year, making it possible to dismantle runways and to destroy 21 airplanes and 17 drug labs, said El Aissami in his report. (Prensa Latina)
