Mass Prosecution of Colombian Criminals Continue
Bogota, Dec 23. -The Colombian authorities expected to bring to justice a second group from the anti-subversive Popular Revolutionary Army of Colombia (ERPAC), one of the most dangerous criminal gangs in the country.The first stage of the process was completed on Thursday with the handing over of over 100 members of that gang founded by the late former paramilitary Pedro Olicerio Guerrero, alias Cuchillo.
According to sources, in the prosecution those who have already been handed over were identified and interrogated later, and all were initially charged in the crimes of conspiracy and arms trafficking.
They also reported that the ringleaders and middle, besides the crimes referred may be prosecuted for drug trafficking, murder, kidnapping and child recruitment.
However, for this submission and eventual acceptance of charges, ERPAC members which surrender could receive sentence deduction up to 50 percent, which means they would pay between five and 10 years in prison, according to leaks.
The submission process is carried out on the outskirts of Villavicencio, capital of Meta department, with the participation of 250 researchers from the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Attorney's Office. (Prensa Latina)
