North Korea Leader Kim Jong Il Dies

Pyongyang, Dec 19. -North Korea leader Kim Jong Il died on Saturday of "physical and mental over-work" on a train on his way to accomplish a working visit.The 69-year old ruler received medical treatment for his heart and brain vascular disease for a long period of time, reported KCNA news agencyKim was born in February 16, 1942. 1n 1960 he began to study politics and economy in Kim Il-sung University and graduated four years later.

In 1964 he began to work at the Central Committee of the Korean Labour Party (KLP) and in February 1974 became a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee.

In October 8 1997 he was elected general secretary of the Korea Labour Party.

People were in pain from the loss of the man who in 1994 assumed the leadership of the state from his father Kim Il-sung, North Korea's first, and officially eternal, president.

Large crowds were gathering at a massive memorial of Kim's father and state founder Kim Il-sung in central Pyongyang mourning the death of the "Dear Leader." Kim will be laid to rest next to his father, KCNA said. (Prensa Latina)
