Contemporary Artworks by Picasso and Miro in Cuba

Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, Dec 7. -Artworks by Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro and Marcel Duchamp, among others, are being exhibited at the Trista Gallery, in the city of Trinidad, which was declared Humankind's Cultural Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1988.

Given the characteristics of the works in the exhibition "My Love for Art, My Love for Cuba" and the requirements for their preservation, the exhibition will remain open only until February 11, according to last edition of the local newspaper Escambray.

The artworks are made on cardboard or paper and they include 12-color lithographs signed by Picasso in 1960.

According to the weekly newspaper, 30 works belong to a collection of 108 pieces from the 19th and 20th centuries, donated to the Cuban people by U.S. collector and gallery owner Gilbert Brownstone.

This collection is in storage at the National Museum of Fine Arts.

The exhibition is part of the activities to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of Trinidad and its Sugar Mill Valley being declared Humankind's Cultural Heritage on December 8, 1988. (Prensa Latina)
