Unasur Reaches Consensus on the Creation of Financial Fund

Caracas, Nov 26. -The Economic Council of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) held in Argentina addressed the creation of a reserve fund for the region, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said.In statements via telephone for the night television program "Contragolpes," the president rated as successful the regional group's meeting, where progress was reached in the approval of the creation of a South American Financial Fund, a regional trade project, and the implementation of a common currency.

He explained that the South American Financial Fund includes a Venezuelan proposal to create a reserve fund for the bloc.

With regards to the regional trade project and the adoption of an common exchange currency, he said it is a strategy "to go get rid of the dollarization."  (Prensa Latina)
